Emergency Certificate

You may apply for an “Emergency Certificate” if you have an emergency and you are unable to obtain a regular passport.

An Emergency Certificate is a temporary travel document that is issued for specific travel. This document is subject to acceptance by the respective airlines and country of destination. It is recommended that you contact your airline before applying for this document. Once your airline has communicated their willingness to accept the document you will be required to complete a passport application and submit the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate or Expired Passport.
  • Two Identical photographs (one should be certified by the certifying official who certified the application)
  • Photo identification (if passport is unavailable)
  • Processing time: Approximately 2 days (applications submitted on Friday will be ready on Monday)
  • Processing fee: $50
