The Customs and Border Control Service (CBC) advises that travellers flying to or through Jamaica who are unable to depart due to flight cancellations caused by Hurricane Melissa should ensure their permission to remain in the Cayman Islands is up to date.
Where appropriate, administrative fees may be waived in the first instance, subject to evidence of travel disruption (e.g., confirmed bookings, airline cancellation notices, or rebooked tickets).
Affected travellers must report in person to CBC Headquarters, Elgin Avenue (opposite the Government Administration Building, George Town) no later than Thursday, 30 October 2025, to regularise their immigration status and avoid penalties.
To expedite processing, please bring:
· Passport and entry slip;
· Proof of original itinerary showing Jamaica as a destination or transit point;
· Airline correspondence confirming cancellation or rebooking.
Travellers who are uncertain about their circumstances should contact CBC Customer Service for further assistance at 649-4579.
CBC remains committed to a compassionate, practical response during weather-related disruptions while upholding the integrity of the Cayman Islands’ border laws. Further updates will be issued if conditions or airline operations change.
