On Saturday, September 6, 2025 a cyber incident was detected by the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team at the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA).
Quick and decisive action by the ICT team has limited the impact of the breach. The actions taken included containing the threat, notifying the relevant regulatory authorities, and beginning the process of systems and operational recovery.
As a precaution, PICA has moved some of its systems offline. At this time there is no indication that any personal data has been compromised. Investigations are still ongoing to determine the full scope of the incident. As the response teams continue to probe the incident, members of the public may experience some delays in accessing some services.
PICA continues to work diligently, with the MOCA and JaCIRT to restore full operations. We ask for the public’s patience as we probe this matter.
